Muting Voice Cues During Music Lead-In

Overview

While teaching you will often want dancers to practice a particular section of choreography. A common way to do this is to start play a short time ahead of the selected choreography so that dancers can hear the tempo and phrasing of the music and be ready to react to your cues. This also gives you time to be ready to start cuing.

When karaoke timing is present this can be done by double clicking the cue one or two measures ahead of the section to be practiced. But what if the cue immediately preceding that section of choreography is Chase Peek-a-Boo Double which is 8 measures long? DanceWizard can assist by automatically providing consistent music lead-in preceding your selected cue.

This music lead-in is also available when starting play from a saved bookmark location.

Settings That Control Music Lead-in

Music lead-in settings are located in the Play Options section on the General tab of the Settings window.

PlayOptions

See the Settings topic for more information about DanceWizard settings.

Music Lead-In when Karaoke Timing is Present

When karaoke timing is present the amount of music lead-in time is set as a count of measures of music (DanceWizard uses the timing information to calculate the average time of a measure of music).

MusicLeadInWithTiming

By default the music lead-in set here is used when play is started after setting the selected cue by either double clicking the cue or by selected a bookmark set on the cue. If you want music lead-in to only be used for bookmarks then set the Music lead-in time enabled only for bookmarks checkbox.

MusicLeadInOnlyForBookmarks

Music Lead-In when Karaoke Timing is Missing

When karaoke timing is not present the amount of music lead-in time is set in seconds.

MusicLeadInWithoutTiming

By default the music lead-in set here is used when play is started after selecting a bookmark.

Muting Voice Cues During Music Lead-In

If you have recorded voice cues then DanceWizard can automatically mute them during music lead-in.

You can disable this automatic muting by clearing the Mute voice during music lead-in time checkbox.

MuteVoiceDuringMusicLeadIn

This feature depends on having the cue highlight lead time for the dance (see Cue Highlighting) set so that the cue is highlighted before the recorded voice cue is spoken.

Some dances may have cues that are stacked earlier than the cue highlighting. If this is the case then you can disable the automatic muting of voice cues by editing the dance and setting the Unmute lead-in voice cues option in the Additional Options section.

More information about these options can be found in the Play Options on the Settings window.
