Overview

DanceWizard stores all information about your dances (dance database, music files, cue cards, cue sheets, etc.) within a folder tree.

If you create a new dance database the default folder holding your dances is Documents > My Dances. If you are using an existing DanceMaster database then by default the folder holding your dances is C:\DanceMaster.

Your dance database file is located within this dance folder. With a new dance database this file by default is named Dances.mdb. For an existing DanceMaster database then the database file by default is named DMRounds.mdb. This database is a Microsoft Access database and contains information about your dances, as well as information about rhythms, venues, categories, and additional information.

Folder Descriptions

Your dance folder contains the following subfolders:

Folder Name Description
Backups By default backups of your dance database are stored here. See the Backing Up a Database section of the Database topic for more information on creating database backups.
Cue Cards This is the required folder where all cue card files along with karaoke timing information are stored. Cue cards are generally stored as Rich Text Format (.rtf) files (this is required for karaoke timing). See the Cue Cards topic for more information on creating cue cards.

Karaoke timing for a dance is stored in .sct files within this folder. See the Cue Timing and Karaoke topic for more information on timing a dance.
Dance Modules By default this folder is where dance modules (compressed files containing all dance information) are created when a dance is exported. See the Dance Modules topic for more information on exporting and importing dance modules.
Dance Programs By default this folder is where playlists are stored. See the Playlists topic for more information on using playlists.
Full Cues This is the required folder where all cue sheet files are stored. Cue sheets are generally stored as Portable Document Format (PDF) files. DanceWizard (with Adobe Reader and its browser plugin installed) can display a dance’s cue sheet on a tab of the Play window. DanceWizard can also display image files (scans) of cue sheets, and is able open an installed application for other cue sheet file formats in a separate window.
Music Files This is the required folder where all music files are stored. Music files are usually stored as MP3 files. DanceWizard is also able to play .wav format audio files.
Video Files This is the default folder where dance videos are stored. DanceWizard uses the builtin Windows Media Player component, so any file that Media Player can play should be able to play in DanceWizard.
Voice Files This is the required folder where all voice files are stored. Voice files are usually stored as MP3 files.
